In the fall of 2010, The Archer School for Girls hired Parallax to create a master plan for the school’s 7.3-acre campus. The program called for increased playing-field space, a new gymnasium to support indoor sports and assemblies, and dedicated facilities for performing and visual arts. Especially important was that all new development respect the character of the school’s existing historic building and the surrounding residential neighborhood. Parallax’s plan dramatically increases the site’s usable area by moving all parking underground and creates an all-pedestrian campus of carefully scaled buildings connected by gardens and courtyards.
After more than four years of entitlement work - including negotiations with neighborhood groups, the local council office and the LA Department of City Planning - the plan was unanimously approved by the Los Angeles City Council on August 4th, 2015.
