Los Angeles, CA
After converting an historic 1931 Spanish Colonial Revival building into its new 6-12 campus, The Archer School for Girls asked Parallax to design the school’s new library. The challenge was to transform a dark existing basement space into a quiet, well-lit environment for reading, research, and teaching. Parallax responded with a highly functional, technologically advanced facility that complements the building’s traditional architecture. The plan features a long, open reading room flanked by book stacks and study areas that accommodates a variety of uses and special events.
